Van die redevoering gebruikte ze twee pagina's, waarvan ze enkel de titels Lire en Ecrire behoudt. Aan de zijkanten van de pagina's brengt ze bladwijzers aan om de passages te markeren die haar opvielen bij haar eerste lezing van de tekst, om wat ze toen daarbij dacht te kunnen evoceren. Twee uitgewiste pagina’s uit de roman La Cathédrale de brume van Paul Willems vormen de kern van dit werk. Rode leeslinten markeren passages die Mesmaeker betekenisvol vond. Door tekst te wissen en tegelijk te markeren, benadrukt zij de spanning tussen lezen en schrijven.
