Hij is afgebeeld in een driekwartaanzicht, blootshoofds, naar voren gericht, in zijn mantel gewikkeld en naar rechts gekeerd in een achthoekige rand. Pierre Maugis, seigneur des Granges, conseiller et maître d'hôtel du roi, était le frère du célèbre abbé de Saint-Ambroise, qui, le premier, colligea des estampes en France, et dont le cabinet fut acquis par M. l’abbé de Marolles. Il est représenté vu de trois quarts, tête nue, regardant de face, enveloppé dans son manteau, et tourné à droite dans une bordure octogone. Pierre Maugis, seigneur des Granges, counsellor and maître d'hôtel to the king, was the brother of the famous abbé de Saint-Ambroise, who was the first to collect prints in France, and whose cabinet was acquired by M. l'abbé de Marolles.
