La gravure d'Ensor s'inscrit dans une longue tradition visuelle, dans laquelle des figures solitaires animent le paysage peint. La gravure "Le Chasseur" est largement inspirée de la gravure de Rembrandt "Paysage au berger " (Bartsch 211). In essence, Ensor's print is part of a long visual tradition, in which solitary figures enliven the painted landscape.
