Tot deze speciale uitgave behoren ook twee etsen, waaronder de prent Het ophangen aan de duimen, die bestemd waren voor een nooit gepubliceerde studie van Beaver Modern Military Punishments. Hogarths prenten zijn qua inhoud en vorm geïnspireerd op de reeks Les misères de la guerre van Jacques Callot. Cette gravure fait partie d'une série de gravures dans une édition spéciale qui contient un total de dix des quatorze gravures réalisées par Hogarth pour illustrer le livre de John Beaver intitulé Roman Military Punishments.
