Tot deze speciale uitgave behoren ook twee etsen die bestemd waren voor een nooit gepubliceerde studie van Beaver Modern Military Punishments. Hogarths prenten zijn qua inhoud en vorm geïnspireerd op de reeks Les misères de la guerre van Jacques Callot. Cette gravure fait partie d'une série de gravures dans une édition spéciale qui contient un total de dix des quatorze gravures réalisées par Hogarth pour illustrer le livre de John Beaver intitulé Roman Military Punishments. Cette édition spéciale comprend également deux gravures qui étaient destinées à une étude jamais publiée de Beaver's Modern Military Punishments. Le contenu et la forme des estampes de Hogarth s'inspirent de la série Les misères de la guerre de Jacques Callot. This print is one of a series of prints in a special edition that contains a total of ten of the fourteen etchings Hogarth made to illustrate John Beaver's book Roman Military Punishments. This special edition also includes two etchings that were intended for a never-published study of Beaver's Modern Military Punishments.
