Zowel de zachte kleuren als de bijna etherische schoonheid van het meisje herinneren aan het werk van de Italiaanse meesters. Ook de invloed van het symbolisme, in het bijzonder van het mystiek geïnspireerde werk van Maurice Denis en Jan Toorop, is hier merkbaar in de idealisering van dit eenvoudige dorpsmeisje, in de gevoelige lijnvoering en in het decoratieve patroon van het bloesje. La Jeune paysanne est évocatrice de l’oeuvre des maîtres italiens par la douceur des teintes et la beauté quasi éthérée de la jeune fille. En outre, l’influence du symbolisme, notamment celle de l’oeuvre d’inspiration mystique de Maurice Denis et Jan Toorop, se remarque ici dans l’idéalisation de cette jeune villageoise toute simple, dans la sensibilité des lignes et dans le motif décoratif du corsage.
