Op het ontwerpkarton zien we een idyllisch landschap bij de zee met twee dansende naakte vrouwen en een muzikant. De poëtische versregel die we onderaan op het ontwerp zien, inspireerde Tytgat later voor dit licht erotische schilderij met vijf naakte vrouwen, spelend in de golven. Ook op het schilderij is de titel onderaan neergeschreven, wat vrij uitzonderlijk is. Die werkwijze vinden we eerder terug in zijn aquarellen. Le titre qu'Edgard Tytgat a donné à ce tableau provient d'une des deux tapisseries qu'il avait exécutées pour l'exposition des arts décoratifs de 1937 à Paris. Sur le carton de conception, nous voyons un paysage idyllique au bord de la mer avec deux femmes nues qui dansent et un musicien. La ligne de vers poétiques que nous voyons au bas du dessin a plus tard inspiré Tytgat pour cette peinture légèrement érotique de cinq femmes nues jouant dans les vagues. Le titre est également inscrit au bas du tableau, ce qui est assez exceptionnel. On retrouve plutôt cette méthode de travail dans ses aquarelles. The title Edgard Tytgat gave this painting was taken from one of the two tapestries he had made for the exhibition of decorative art in Paris in 1937. In the cartoon we see an idyllic landscape near the sea with two nude women dancing and a musician. The poetic line we see at the bottom of the design later inspired Tytgat to paint this mildly erotic work with five nude women frolicking in the waves.
