Paul Lambotte était directeur honoraire du Ministère des Arts et des Sciences. Docteur en droit, il s’est surtout fait connaître comme amateur et critique d’art, et a écrit plusieurs ouvrages sur les arts plastiques. En 1922, à l’occasion de son soixantième anniversaire, il fut honoré et immortalisé sur cette médaille, dont le revers représente les attributs des beaux-arts.
