Na Dublin, New York en Parijs was het in 1862 opnieuw aan Londen om een Wereldtentoonstelling te organiseren, ditmaal in South Kensington op de plaats waar zich vandaag het Natuurhistorisch Museum bevindt. Deze prijspenning vormde de officiële beloning voor de verschillende exposanten en juryleden. Dit exemplaar ontving dhr. Duhayon-Brunfaut als jurylid. Op de voorzijde staat de allegorische voorstelling van Brittania, zittend op een troon, omringd door zes vrouwen met allerlei attributen die de kunsten voorstellen, ontworpen door de Ierse kunstenaar Daniël Maclise. La première grande exposition universelle, "The Great Exhibition", s'est tenue à Londres au Crystal Palace en 1851. Après Dublin, New York et Paris, c'est à nouveau au tour de Londres d'accueillir une exposition universelle en 1862, cette fois à South Kensington, sur le site où se trouve aujourd'hui le Natural History Museum. Cette médaille était la récompense officielle des différents exposants et juges. Celui-ci a été reçu par M. Duhayon-Brunfaut en tant que juré.
