Hij werkte op 14-jarige leeftijd al in een atelier, maar kon zich opwerken door avond- en weekendonderwijs. In 1883 werd hij directeur van de "Ecole industrielle" te Morlanwelz. Op 6 juli 1913 werd de dertigste verjaardag van zijn directeurschap gevierd. Godeaux ontving een bronzen medaillon met zijn beeltenis waarvan deze medaille een reductie is. Er werden in totaal 206 exemplaren geslagen. Auguste Godeaux est né en 1850 dans une famille ouvrière modeste à Chapelle-lez-Herlaimont. Il a travaillé dans un atelier à l'âge de 14 ans, mais a pu gravir les échelons en suivant des cours du soir et du week-end. En 1883, il devient directeur de l'Ecole industrielle de Morlanwelz. Le 6 juillet 1913, le 30e anniversaire de sa direction est célébré. Godeaux a reçu un médaillon en bronze à son effigie dont cette médaille est une réduction. Au total, 206 exemplaires ont été frappés. Auguste Godeaux was born in 1850 to a simple working-class family in Chapelle-lez-Herlaimont. He worked in a workshop at the age of 14, but was able to work his way up through evening and weekend classes. In 1883, he became director of the "Ecole industrielle" in Morlanwelz.
