Het stuk in witte Sèvres biscuit stelt een gehelmde vrouw met kuras voor, als zinnebeeld van de Republiek. Voor elke gelegenheid werd een gepaste keerzijde gegraveerd. In 1895 werd dit ongewijzigde ontwerp als voorzijde gebruikt voor een stuk aangaande het vijfde congres van het gevangeniswezen met op de keerzijde een zicht op Parijs en een aangepast opschrift. The piece in white Sèvres biscuit depicts a helmeted woman with cuirass, as a symbol of the Republic. An appropriate reverse was engraved for each occasion.
