Een mijnwerker staat afgebeeld met helm en houweel, op de achtergrond verschijnen een steenberg en een rokende schouw. Van dit reliëf werden er talrijke exemplaren vervaardigd in aardewerk, in gips en in brons. Het productieatelier is niet gekend. Le marchand de charbon Édouard Taymans a commandé cette plaque pour ses clients en 1904 à Constantin Meunier. Un mineur est représenté avec un casque et une pioche, à l'arrière-plan apparaissent une montagne de charbon et une cheminée fumante. De nombreux exemples de ce relief ont été réalisés en faïence, en plâtre et en bronze.
