Hun grootouders bestelden deze plaquette bij Godfried Devreese. Franz, de oudste, werd professor geschiedenis aan de Gentse Universiteit (1929) en doctor in de Letteren en Wijsbegeerte. In de Eerste Wereldoorlog was hij officier en in 1919 één van de Belgische gedelegeerden bij de vredesbesprekingen. Nadien werd hij advocaat bij het Hof van Beroep te Gent. Hij overleed op 26 juli 1980. Zijn broer Georg, was officier bij het 1ste regiment Gidsen en vrijwilliger tijdens de oorlog. Hij overleed op 23 november 1973. Walter, de jongste, was advocaat bij het Hof van Beroep te Brussel, magistraat aan het Hof van Cassatie en rechter ad-hoc aan het Internationaal Hof in Den Haag. Het originele gipsen ontwerp van deze plaquette evenals een gouden exemplaar worden nog steeds in de familie bewaard. Cette plaque rectangulaire présente sur le devant les bustes appariés des trois enfants Ganshof avec leurs noms. Leurs grands-parents ont commandé cette plaque à Godfried Devreese. Franz, l'aîné, devient professeur d'histoire à l'université de Gand et docteur en lettres et en philosophie. Pendant la Première Guerre mondiale, il a été officier et, en 1919, l'un des délégués belges aux négociations de paix. Ensuite, il est devenu avocat à la Cour d'appel de Gand. Il est décédé le 26 juillet 1980. Son frère Georg, était un officier du 1er régiment de guides et un volontaire pendant la guerre. Il est décédé le 23 novembre 1973. Walter, le plus jeune, a été avocat à la Cour d'appel de Bruxelles, magistrat à la Cour de cassation et juge ad hoc à la Cour internationale de La Haye. Le modèle original en plâtre de cette plaque ainsi qu'une plaque en or sont toujours conservés dans la famille.
