Zijn pose met kruiselings geplaatste benen is zelfs elegant. Een decoratieve ritmiek en een levendige expressie gaan hier samen. Het beeld is een mooi voorbeeld van laatgotische beeldhouwkunst in het gebied van de Beneden-Rijn. Het wordt beschouwd als een van de belangrijkste werken van Meester Arnt. Saint Sébastien est représenté comme un homme courageux, insensible aux tortures qu’on lui fait subir. Avec les jambes croisées, Sébastien est même dépeint dans une pose élégante. Le rythme émanant de la décoration et l’expression vivante sont en harmonie. L’œuvre est un bel exemple de la sculpture gothique tardive dans la région du Bas-Rhin et est considérée comme l’une des plus importantes de Maître Arnt. St Sebastian is depicted as a brave man, indifferent to the tortures inflicted on him. Indeed, the attitude of his body, with his legs crossed, could even be described as elegant. The artist combines decorative rhythm with animated expression. The figure is a fine example of late-gothic sculpture in the Lower Rhine region.
